Our Approach

Evidence-Based

Assessment and therapy are informed by current evidence and tailored to each person's individual needs, developmental stage and circumstances.  We support children and adolescents experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties, as well as adults experiencing eating disorders.

Collaborative

We work closely with clients, families, doctors, and specialists to provide coordinated, compassionate and individualised care.  Collaboration with family members and other professionals occurs with the client's consent, where appropriate.

Person-centred and Family Focused

We recognise that every person's experiences, strengths, and challenges are unique.  Our approach supports children, adolescents and adults while recognising the important role of families and support networks where appropriate.

Psychology Informed by Dietetics

Kerryn O'Brien is a registered psychologist and qualified dietitian.  Her background in paediatric and clinical dietetics brings additional insight to work with people whose emotional wellbeing, sensory experience and relationship with food intersect.

Treatment focuses on the psychological, emotional, and behavioural aspects of eating, using evidence-based approaches tailored to each person's needs.

Services at Diaita Psychology are provided as psychological services and not dietetic services.

Where appropriate, care is coordinated with doctors, dietitians, and other health professionals to support comprehensive, multidisciplinary care.
